What does “Deductible” mean to me?

1. Call the Police (even if the other person asks you not to). Do not discuss with the other person fault or details (it could be used against you later.

• Vehicle ID and Plate Number
• Insurance Company
• Policy Number
• Color of Vehicle
• Names of Witnesses
• Take Photo of the Damage to both vehicles
2. Where will I have my    vehicle towed to? The Repair facility you choose to get the process started.
3. Know if the other party was ticketed for the accident.
4. If the accident was your fault contact your insurance, if it was the fault of the other party contact their insurance with the information that was collected at the scene (most have 24/7 claims service).
5. After reporting the accident you will get a claim number, give it to the shop where your vehicle is being repaired and let them handle all dealings with the insurance company. They are familiar with dealing with them and how to get your vehicle repaired.
6. What does the term “Deductible” mean to you? Depending on what the deductible is it is the amount that you are responsible for and the insurance company is responsible everything else. 
7. If the insurance company tells you to take your vehicle to a “preferred’ shop you do not have to. In the State of Texas you have the right to have your vehicle repaired where you want to. NO ONE CAN MAKE YOU TAKE IT WHERE YOU DON”T WANT TO!

 Know your Insurance Coverage. Do you have Uninsured/Under Insured Motorist with Property Damage and medical coverage?

It is not included in most Full Coverage Insurance plans.
